6/18/2011 Guest: Jeff Kottkamp – 17th Lieutenant Governor of Florida

Like many people in Florida, Jeff Kottkamp was born somewhere else — in the Midwest. As a young boy in Indiana he was inspired by stories of Abraham Lincoln, who grew up only a short distance from Jeff’s hometown. Jeff and his family later moved to Cape Coral in Southwest Florida in 1977.
 
 Jeff got his first view of Florida’s State Capitol when he served as a Boy’s State Delegate representing North Fort Myers High School. After graduating from high school Jeff earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Edison College, where he was active in Student Government.
 
 Jeff then attended Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Political Science. Thereafter, Jeff attended the University of Florida College of Law where he received a Juris Doctor degree in 1987.

Steve Wilson is currently employed with the City of Rockledge as Community Advocate/Assistant to the City Manager.  Steve’s role as Community Advocate sends him in a number of different directions with the City.  As Community Advocate, he is the person of contact for Rockledge residents that have issues or concerns that need to be addressed.  Often times residents may have a question, but simply don’t know who to contact.  Steve is the person to call.  He can either help you, or point you in the right direction for assistance.

Palm Bay City Council Woman Michele Paccione was born in Long Island New York on July 31, 1962.  She later studied Communications at CW Post in Greenvale NY.  From 1984 through 1990, Michele worked managing a Men’s Custom Clothing store in Manhattan. 

 In 1990, she moved to Palm Bay FL with her husband Michael. Over the 21 years Michele has lived in Palm Bay, she has proved to be a valuable citizen and an active member of the community.  She attended the Space Coast School of Real Estate and from 1992 until 1999, she worked as a Licensed Realtor with Pruitt Real Estate in Melbourne Florida. In 1999 she began working as a Licensed Escrow, Title Agent and Manager for Security First Title & Escrow, where she continues to work today.

After numerous years in the streets of the Bronx playing the role of a real life Criminal, Wayne decided to turn his life around after an arrest in 1999.

Wayne took up acting and from his first acting class to now, Wayne has acted in over 70 films. Most notably “Uptown Girls” opposite Brittany Murphy, “The Guru” opposite Heather Graham, “Law and Order” opposite Vincent Donofrio and “Rescue Me” starring Dennis Leary.

After a few years honing his craft Wayne decided to make an autobiographical movie about his crazy days in the Bronx. The film is called “Bronx Paradise”. The reviews on the film are fantastic and it has won 16 awards including 9 best pictures on the festival circuit. The film is currently playing in Video on Demand across the country.

Andy Anderson has served as Brevard County District 5 County Commissioner since 2008.

A 22 year resident of Brevard County, Commissioner Anderson has over 15 years executive managerial experience related to project management, business administration and business operations and is a Veteran of the United States Army; where he was assigned as an investigator for the U.S. Army Drug Suppression team.

He is married with 3 great children.  Andy and his wife Sybrina have been together for 19 years; they have 3 sons; Christian, Michael Hunter and Daniel. He and his family attend The Calvary Chapel Melbourne.

He is continually working for his community and wouldn’t have it any other way. Just a few of his endeavors include:

Reality Check Radio at the Melbourne Art Festival – LIVE!

The Reality Check Radio show heard on WMEL AM1300 in central Florida and worldwide on the web will be doing the show live from the Melbourne Art Festival Saturday April 23, 2011 from 10am to 11am.

Guests for this no commercial special show will include Judge Cathleen Clark, Sabrina Douglas a 14 year old girl being raised by her grandparents, Tom Frey a retired NY City homicide detective, Judge David Silverman and Gerald Fasanella, a community leader and President of Heron Financial Partners.

4/23/2011 Guest: Judge Cathleen B. Clarke – 18th Judicial Circuit, County Court Judge

A native Floridian, Judge Clarke was raised in the Tampa Bay area and graduated from Notre Dame Academy, known today as St. Petersburg Catholic High School. Judge Clarke received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1975, and subsequently received her juris doctor from the University of Florida School of law in 1979.

Following law school, Judge Clarke served as an assistant state attorney, assistant public defender, part-time guardian ad litem attorney, and part-time instructor at Brevard Community College’s law enforcement academy.

Judge Clarke was appointed to the county court bench in 1998, by Governor Lawton Chiles. She has run unopposed in subsequent elections. In 2001, Judge Clarke was chosen by her peers to serve as the county court administrative judge.

In 1966, Judge Clarke’s mother, the late Johnnie Ruth Clarke, was the first African-American woman to earn a doctorate degree from the University of Florida. Dr. Clarke went on to become a college professor, dean, newspaper columnist, and humanitarian. Her legacy continues to this day, with academic scholarships and a community health clinic in Pinellas County, Florida, that bear her name.

Her father, the late Dr. Johnny L. Clarke, was a dentist in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the source of great pride and inspiration.

Judge Clarke has served on numerous boards and committees including The Haven, American Red Cross, Commission on Mental Health and Community Solutions, Crosswinds, inc., Brevard County Bar Judicial Liaison Committee, and the Florida Bar Association’s Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee.

In 2003, the National Association for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) presented Judge Clarke the Outstanding Leadership and Advocacy Award for her work establishing the first mental health court in Brevard County
